Smithville, TX

May 24, 2014

Recently, my wife and our two dogs made our annual pilgrimage to a small town in Texas for a long weekend.  Smithville, located between Austin and La Grange, was our destination this year.  We spent a couple of relaxing days at a rental house by the Colorado River.  It was a good get away from our daily grind.  We got hungry at one point and made our way into town to get a bite to eat and to check out Main Street. It was just what is expected of a small Texas town.  Plenty of interesting small brick buildings, many with faded painted signs on the side.   I liked this place, but it seems that this part of the town has seen better days.  Other than a handful of antique stores, most of the rest of the buildings were for rent or for sale. As always, comments are appreciated
